How I Survive Cancer

I am 65 years old and was diagnosed with carcinoid syndrome five years ago. I had a liver resection soon after at Dana Farber in Boston. It was very successful, and I remained cancer-free for 4 years! Last year, I was told I had numerous lesions on my liver and no surgery would help this time.Since then, I have been receiving monthly shots of Sandostatin LAR and no changes have been found on recent scans.

How I Fight for a Cure

I am truly a spiritual person my whole life, and God has certainly strengthened my ability to cope with this serious diagnosis. I eat healthy, stay active, and surround myself with the people that mean the most to me. I pray for a cure in the near future!

My Caring Words of Encouragement

y adice to all carcinoid patients is "never give up" and do not compare your case with anyone else! Make sure you have a doctor that you completely trust---Dr. Timothy Hong from Hartford Hospital has given me encouragement and good medical care for 5 years, thank you!
