How I Survive Cancer

I survived by having faith in God putting my life in his hands. Surviving for my children and my husband.

How I Fight for a Cure

I have had IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) for about 13 years. I would get sick about every 6 weeks. I would get very bad cramps, diarrah, vomiting and a very sharp pain in my lower right side of my stomach all at the same time. I couldn't stand the pain and I would always end up in the ER, but they would always tell me its IBS. They never really bothered to take any test or help me out. They would give me something to either numb me or take the pain away and then send me home. The last time i couldn't even drive my daughter to school I was in so much pain. I told my daughter call your dad he needs to come home and take me in. He did, they took me in and right away they gave me some medicine for pain and wanted to send me home with no blood taken or nothing. They said it was my IBS. But the only difference is that the nurse told the doctor you can't send her home she is in pain, I heard them talking/arguing in the hall way and she was a GOD SENT she defended me even though she didn't know me. They took a cat scan and found a tumor. They took blood and my white blood count was high they left me in the hospital for 3 days and took a lot of tests...cat scans and ultra sounds. Right there they told me that they thought it was ovarian cancer. They finally decide it was a fibroid. They didn't want to remove it. They said millions of women live with this. But my stomach was getting bigger and bigger. Nothing fit and i was in so much pain. I finally told them to do it and they said i had to get the insurance approval. I cal led and finally got it. After months the doctor did the surgery. The doctor told me after surgery that the tumor was as big as a grapefruit and I was very lucky to be alive another week or so and I wouldn't have made it. After days of reviewing the tumor they conclude that it was a carcinoid tumor and no chemo would be necessary. The doctor also said, he didn't want to do it because it didn't look so bad and that i looked okay. But he saved my life and I will be grateful to God and my doctor for the rest of my life. Thank you lord.

My Caring Words of Encouragement

The only thing I say is that trust in God, put your faith and you life in his hands. He is the only one that can give you peace of mind. And when you need a hug or a kiss lean on your family. They will always be there for you. Also, live your life to the fullest because you never know if you will get a that second chance.
