Caring for Carcinoid Foundation - Survivor Stories
John R. Cullerton

- Cancer type: Carcinoid
- Diagnosis year: 2007
- Home: Macedon, New York - USA
I had been losing weight (207 to 156) but thought nothing of it as I
wanted to lose a few pounds anyway, a few pounds? For the last 3-4 months I
had been having stomach trouble but put it off as GERD and the MS that I
have. Sometimes I blame MS on to many things. I was in Florida in April of
2007 and started having gut wrenching pain. I flew back to New York on a
Thursday, saw my gastrogist on a Friday and on Tuesday was operated on. They
removed 18 inches of intestine, large 8 inches and 10 of the small. Where
the two connect they found a golf ball size carcinoid tumor. They also
removed 20 nodes of which 5 were cancerous. Today I watch what I eat and
take 30 units of sandosatin monthly and B12. My weight has leveled off at
178, but I'm 3 foot eleven. Not really I'm 6 foot, just wanted to see if you
were paying attention. Thank GOD for sandosatin the miracle drug.
Through making people aware that a deadly disease is still learking out
there and the many treatments and cures there are. The American Cancer
Society.
Don't ever, ever give up.
