Pan-Mass ChallengeThe Caring for Carcinoid Foundation (CFCF) proudly enters a team in the annual Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC). 100% of every dollar goes to cutting-edge carcinoid research. Join Team Caring for Carcinoid Foundation! Mark your calender, the next PMC will be held August 7th and 8th, 2010!
Introduction
The Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) is the nation’s most successful bike-a-thon. To date, the PMC has raised over $200 million for life-saving cancer research. Riders of all abilities, including novices, participate in this major charitable event. The average rider age is 43, and the age range is 15 to 80. More than 4,000 cyclists from the US and other countries participate. 70% of PMC riders are alumni and return each year with renewed enthusiasm and deeper commitments to the ride and cause. They consistently describe their experience as unbeatable. We welcome new and experienced riders and everyone in between who loves
making a difference and having a great time doing it. We hold several
training rides of various levels of difficulty and distance, led by enthusiastic
team members. We also enjoy talks by member of CFCF's esteemed
Board of Scientific Advisors. Remember, 100% of your fundraising directly supports carcinoid research toward discovering a cure. 2010 Pan-Mass ChallengeJoin Team CFCF in the 31st Annual Pan-Mass Challenge to be held August 7 - 8, 2010. 2009 Pan-Mass Challenge
Congratulations to the 51 riders in the 2009 PMC Team Caring for Carcinoid!
All of the proceeds from this event will be going to CFCF's Whole Genome Investigation of carcinoid led by Dr. Matthew Meyerson of DFCI and the Broad Institute. CFCF has undertaken this project in order to identify which genes are altered in carcinoid (in comparison to normal tissue), by studying carcinoid DNA with the most powerful, new methods available. Once these genes have been identified we will decipher which of these altered genes can promote tumor growth. Equipped with this understanding, we hope to find new or existing drugs that block the effects of carcinoid-causing genes thereby killing carcinoid cells through "targeted" mechanisms. We give a big hand of applause to all of the riders who are making this project possible. Team MembersThe Caring for Carcinoid Foundation is grateful to our dedicated team members of 2009!
